PURSE: TORTOISE SHELL COVER WITH SIVLER INLAY
Rectangular purse with rounded corners with silk, coin compartments held together on metal frame and fastened with a clasp on the outside. There is another metal clasp for the interior compartments. There is evidence of some repair work - cotton stitching and paper linings to the interior compartments. The tortoise-shell cover has inlaid silver work with scroll and floral motifs around a central shield, engraved 'M.M.D'.
This item was donated to the Museum with other items belonging to the Roberts family and is likely to have belonged to Mary Roberts (nee Dixon).
