.Black and white photograph showing two parked semi-trailers at the Industrial Extracts factory, Toodyay. The trucks are next to each other but facing in the opposite direction. They are shown in a slightly diagonal position.
The semi on the right is loaded with logs and is facing forward. It has a number 2 painted on the front. Signage on the cabin above the windscreen reads "Industrial Extracts" and on the driver's door "Industrial Extracts Ltd Toodyay".
The semi on the left is facing in the opposite direction and is not loaded. The number plate visible on the back trailer can be identified as T62 indicating a Toodyay registration.

Historical information

Some of the fleet of trucks operated by Industrial Extracts, Toodyay.
Logs were unloaded at the factory ramp by winches and conveyed by monorail to the hoggers, which broke down the timber ready for processing.

Contextual Information

Industrial Extracts was a subsidiary company of Plaimar, and was formed in about 1935.
The major factory was at Boddingon, Western Australia. Two mills there worked 24 hours a day during WW2 to meet the national demand for tanning extract.
A third tanning mill was built in Toodyay and opened in May 1952. In 1971 the Toodyay factory closed when it became uneconomic.
