1951 Commonwealth Jubilee Baseball Championship Series programme
1951Programme of the 1951 Commonwealth Jubilee Baseball Championship Series held in Adelaide, South Australia. A 32-page A5-size booklet with coloured covers in red, blue and yellow on gloss paper. The front cover depicts drawn images of a baseball and baseballers pitching, batting, catching, fielding and sliding into base. The inside pages are on plain paper and printed in black and white. Pages include: history of Claxton Shield and its donor; social and match events; player profiles; official teams; a photograph of the South Australian team; score sheet; a photograph of the Australian Baseball Team American Tour 1897, and a tribute to Ron Sharpe, Helms Medal winner. The back cover has an advertisement and details of the printer of the programme.
The 1951 Claxton Shield was the 12th annual Claxton Shield, an Australian national baseball tournament, and was held in Adelaide from 28 July to 4 August. Games were played at University Oval, Adelaide Oval and Norwood Oval. The participants were hosts South Australia, defending champions New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland. The series was won by an undefeated New South Wales, their sixth Shield title.

This 1951 programme formed part of the baseball memorabilia collection of Ray Allen, who played for Wests Baseball Club in the 1950s. It has been given to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives on permanent loan by the Ray Allen family.
