POSTCARD: SOCIAL GROUP, POSSIBLY FAMILY
c. 1910The sepia photo features four females, one male. Older woman holds onto mesh attached to verandah to assist climbing plants. Two younger girls in long white dresses stand beside her. A third girl (a little older, possibly Miss Du Rieu?) is seated on the step, with a man standing near her, holding pipe in left hand. House is named 'Kirkwall', indicated by plaque on verandah post. A sign is advertising 'Miss Gladys Du Rieu, A Mus. L.C.M. Piano, Theory, Harmony etc.' One bird cage on verandah step next to seated female, another suspended from hook attached to verandah's overhead structure.
Rerverse: Inscription on back of photo reads; 'Dear Hellen, with good wishes for a very happy Christmas. Mr. E. du Rieu' and is addressed to 'Miss H. Wolfe, Townsend Road, Subiaco' Later note on registration form 'House possibly at 8 Ellen St, Subiaco' Museum holds original photo only
