POSTCARD: MAURICE GEORGE HANCOCK WITH SUBIACO CLASS GROUP

c. 1905
Overview

Front: The photograph features a class from the Subiaco School taken out of doors against the background of a hedge. The children are arranged in four row. The girls are positioned in the back two rows and the boys are seated in the front two rows. The school buildings can be seen in the background.

Pupils include Norma Fishwick (back row, second from the left), and Maurice George Hancock (second row, fifth from the left), who was born on 10 May 1895 and died on 4 October 1916 during World War I.

Reverse: Reverse of photograph may be used as postcard.
Beneath and to the left of POST CARD is written ‘Correspondence’ and to the right ‘Address only'.
Also on reverse, handwritten 'x Maurice George Hancock'

New information indicates photograph may be from 1931 (see historic details)

Historical information

One of a number of photographs of Hancock family members.

New information indicates that this photograph may have been taken later than first recorded. Another print of the same photo has noted on the reverse a note about Norma Fishwick: 'Norma aged 51/2 years / first week of school / Feb 1931'. This contradicts donor information that Maurice George Hancock is in the photo as he died in 1916.
