Overview

Front: The photograph shows Mr George Hancock standing next to his wife who is seated with one child on her knee and the other child standing close to her. Mr Hancock is wearing 'bowyangs' on his trousers, suit coat and vest with a tie. He wears a small brimmed hat. Mrs Hancock is wearing a black dress and a high crowned hat with a large bow. Her daughter wears a dark dress with a white yoke collar. The little boy is wearing a top coat and a broad brimmed hat. In the background stands their 'humpy' (tent) which is made out of flour bags dipped in mortar. Behind Mr Hancock is a chimney and an axe leans against the wall. The photograph was taken in the vicinity of Rowland Street.
