Lime Kilns
c. 1970Colour photo
The Neerabup Lime Company, run by Emilio Menchetti, operatated them between 1958 and 1968. The three arch double kilns are set into a limestone rock face with a quarry nearby. The bagging floor, where the lime was unloaded, is between the two kilns. Pictured is the four chamber kiln that was built in 1966 by Emilio Menchetti and produced 63% more quicklime than the usual three chamber kiln.
