c. 1900Glass moulded brown bottle. Cylindrical in shape. Neck is broken off. There are two lots of raised writing around the sides of the bottle and also on the base.
A brown glass moulded bottle. The base tapers out slightly to form the body which then curves to form the shoulder. The neck has been broken off.
Writing is on the base of the bottle just above the rim with owner and manufacturing information.
John Dewar's is a manufacturer of Scottish blended whiskey. First as a product of a small wine and liqueur merchant under John's sons the brand grew to manufacture its products for export to a global market.
Now known as Dewar's the brand continues to export to a global market.
Once the contents of the bottle were consumed the bottle was likely thrown straight into the rubbish pit as waste services were not available.
