JAR, FRAGMENT - RIM
c. 1900Rectangle fragment of a cylindrical jar. Appears to be of white clay and clear glaze.
On the outside is a black machine printed image. Across the top is a banner that frames the top half of a woman wearing a robe that leaves one shoulder bare.
The fragment appears to have been for a jar or pot. The image of a robed female and a [Y’S] would indicate it was decorated for marketing purposes.
Combined with the other fragment it is likely that the item was made in the United Kingdom and imported as a medicine of some sort.
It would have been thrown away into the rubbish pit when it had no use.
