Overview

A brown cylindrical glass bottle. The base slopes in at the bottle's shoulder to make a smaller cylindrical neck that finishes with a flange rim around the bottle opening.

Historical information

The Wellcome on the bottle is for Burroughs, Wellcome & Co. A company started by two pharmaceutical salesmen from the United States. Focusing on manufacturing and selling medicines aided by good marketing, mass marketing and scientific grounds for their goods.

Eventually Burroughs passed away in 1895 leaving Wellcome the owner and controller of the company. The name on the bottle would indicated it was manufactured sometime after Burroughs death and the death of Wellcome in 1936.

The company became a trust after Wellcome’s death. It would eventually sell off the manufacturing and marketing of medicines arm and focus on research and improvement of health. Its finances come from the cash of the sale and investments in different areas.

The bottle was thrown into a rubbish pit once the contents were finished as waste services were not available.
