William Keith Adam's Top Hat
c. 1900A black silk top hat. On the liner of the hat is a black ribbon scroll and underneath is a drawing of three thistles alongside a crown. Underneath these two drawings is a emblem of a lion's head, a shield with a crown at the top and on the right is a unicorn all at the top of a shield.
This hat belonged to William Keith Adam, the first resident magistrate of Katanning. He died in 1900 while on a return trip to England. The top hat came in a fitted leather case, that has a hat support inside.

On the liner of the hat above the ribbon scroll in black ink is "W. K. A."
On the liner of the hat in black stamped lettering in the ribbon scroll is "BY SPECIAL APPOINTMENT". In the shield in six lines of black stamped lettering is "LINCOLN", "BENNETT", "& Co", "SACKVILLE STREET", "PICCADILY", "LONDON".
Underneath the shield in three lines of black stamped lettering is "RANKEN & Co,", "CALCUTTA,", "SIMLA & LAHORE".
