1978-79 Goldfields Baseball League representative team
1979An A4-size colour photograph of the 1978-79 Goldfields Baseball League's representative team. The 'Goldfields' team are wearing their playing uniforms of a yellow short-sleeved playing top worn over a dark blue long-sleeved undershirt. Their caps are mid-blue, the pants are dark blue with yellow socks.
Above the photograph, printed in black text are the names of the league and the two competing teams, as well as where and when the game took place. Below the photograph, printed in black text, are the names of the team members.
1978 saw the revival of baseball in the Goldfields in Western Australia, after a break of 12 years. A further boost to the sport in the region was the exhibition game played between a combined Kalgoorlie baseball team, 'Goldfields', and a Western Australian representative team. The game took place on July 1st,1979 at the Kalgoorlie Oval.
The Western Australian representative team was very strong and included Australian representatives (6 full caps and 3 Under-18 caps). The team's coach and assistant coach had also represented Australia. The team comprised Rod Byrne (coach), Ray Michell, Don Knapp, Colin Guest, John Kyle, Don Kyle, Doug Mateljan, and upcoming under-18s Warren Hughes, George Christie and Parris Mitchell.
To balance the game more evenly, Western Australian and Australian representative Ray Michell pitched for 'Goldfields'.

Absent: Trevor Russell.
The WA representative team won 8-0.
