1937 was the first year Western Australia competed in the Claxton Shield Baseball Carnival. This official programme was issued by the South Australian Baseball League and includes the names of the Western Australian team and their profiles.
The programme was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by the family of Glen Dunstan. Glen was Vice-Captain of the 1937 Western Australian team.
This official programme and souvenir issued by the South Australian Baseball League is of great significance in the history of Western Australia's participation in the Claxton Shield baseball series. It commemorates the State's initial entry into the Claxton Shield contests. Baseball was becoming an increasingly popular social pastime for both players and spectators in Western Australia. The programme is complete and a rare addition to the Museum's program collection. It has excellent provenance.
