Contextual Information

This was Frank Oliver's original glove when he started playing baseball in the late 1930s in Western Australia. He played first base for Mosmans in the Western Australian Baseball League and was selected as first baseman in the State team for the 1936 interstate tournament against Victoria in Perth.
The glove has been loaned to the Baseball WA Museum and Archives by the Frank Oliver's family.

Statement of significance

Baseball was in its infancy in Western Australia in the late 1930s. This is a fine example of a glove used in those early years. It has good provenance and is well preserved.
