Overview

Vertical cream poscard with grayscale image of a rose with a wreath of leaves and smaller flowers. 'TO MY DEAR DAUGHTER / WITH FOND / BIRTHDAY WISHES' along the top edge in bold font which is surrounded by decorative swirls. In the middle of the 'wreath' is more smaller text which reads: ' DEAR DAUGHTER, / ON YOUR / BIRTHDAY THIS / THE LOVING / WISH I SEND, / THAT YOU / WHEREVER / YOU MAY BE / A HAPPY DAY / MAY SPEND / MAY NOT A / SHADOW ON / YOU FALL / THAT LOVE / CANNOT DISPEL, / AND MAY / THE JOYS / THAT LIFE / CAN BRING / WITH YOU / FOR EVER / DWELL'. The artwork is signed in the bottom right by 'CLIFTON BIGNHAM'. Below this, along the short bottom edge, reads: ' 874W COPYRIGHT BEAGLES POSTCARDS'.

The reverse has a handwritten cursive message in black ink which reads: 'To My Dear Daughter / Lillian on her 28th Birthday / Wishiner her Many happy / ?? Of the day with / best wishes & prosperity from / her loving mother' There is an X at the end with four smaller X-es surrounding it.
