Mrs. Phillips is wearing a lace bonnet with bow, black evening gown, white lace collar & pendant at neck. She is holding a fan.
The donor's (Mrs. Dufall) grandfather, John Beard, had worked for Shire Phillips at Culham, and at some point had acquired the photograph which had been kept in the family ever since.

The influence of both Mr. and Mrs. Phillips in the history of the Shire includes the development of agriculture, the establishment of halls and churches and involvement in the Road Board.
