Overview

In the first half of 20th century, hand embroidered and crocheted table linen worked by the lady of the house as part of her trousseau, displayed her skills and added a touch of elegance to the home. Doyleys of different shapes served different purposes. This doyley was for a rectangular shaped sandwich dish.

Worked in filet crochet, the design has an emu on each end with a latticework surrounds.

Australiana theme was very popular in the mid 20th century.
