Beaded Silk Chiffon Skirt by Aurelio Costarella, Western Australia
This exquisitely hand-embroidered silk skirt is the work of internationally acclaimed West Australian designer Aurelio Costarella (1964–2025). Created in his signature couture style, the A-line skirt features a densely beaded surface with cream square and round sequins arranged in dynamic swirling patterns, offering both movement and luminosity. The embellishments are meticulously stitched onto fine cream silk chiffon, which is delicately lined for structure and modesty.
The skirt fastens with an invisible zip at the centre back and a hook-and-eye grosgrain waistband, reflecting Costarella’s couture-level finishing. French seams and a zigzag-stitched hem further showcase his attention to craftsmanship. The skirt embodies Costarella’s deeply personal design ethos, using layering and surface detail to evoke memory, emotion, and transformation—part of a visual language that often explored the journey “from darkness to light.”
Costarella’s creations have graced international catwalks and been worn by celebrities including Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, and Queen Mary of Denmark. This piece is a striking example of his layered storytelling through fashion.
The garment has an Aurelio Costarella label and size 2. New with tags. Price as new $1,015. Purchase price $412.30
