The qualifying round for the Men's Four Ball Match Play Knockout is an 18 hole 4BBB stableford round.
The best scores from the qualifying round enter the match play knockout rounds that are also conducted in a 4BBB stableford format using handicaps. The number of pairs that qualify to play in the knockout rounds has varied through history. At one stage this was 32, then 16, and in 2025 it was 8. The reduction in numbers minimised the duration of the event as it passed through the various stages. With the top 8 qualifiers there are just the quarter, semi and final rounds, all played over 18 holes or extended into sudden death if tied after that duration.

The name of the event honours one of the club's founders, Bruce Harvey.
