Contextual information

The "Roama" is a vintage, Australian-made child's toy. It was made in Melbourne starting around 1951 by the Maxcraft Projection Manufacturing Company. It projects still images from a strip of 35mm film onto a wall or small screen. These projectors were popular toys during the post-WWII manufacturing boom. Children used them to view short stories or cartoon reels at home in a darkened room. They were typically made of lightweight metal or tin.
