BRACLET - CINNABAR LACQUER

Overview

Made from Cinnabar Lacquer, where layer upon layer of lacquer applied and design then carved into the lacquer. The bracelet has a red floral design in the centre of each of the six pieces. Around the outside of each piece is silver floral design. Each piece is connected by hinges.

Historical information

This bracelet belonged to Ellen Cosgrove, the grandmother of Patricia 'Pat' Ten Haaf. Ellen lived at 'Maldon' which was located on Forrest Road, Armadale. Ellen married Arthur Cosgrove on 18 May 1898 at the Roman Catholic church St Patrick's in Fremantle. They moved Forrest Road in Armadale where they lived and raised their family until the late 1930s. The bracelet was passed down through the family to their granddaughter Patricia.
