Historical information

Mayoral Pendant worn by Mr Ian Keith Blackburn when Mayor of the Town of Armadale. The Shire of Armadale Kelmscott became the Town of Armadale on 1 January 1979 and the position of Shire President was renamed as mayor. Cr Blackburn who was appointed to the position of Shire president in 1978 became the Town's first mayor. He held the position until 1986. In 1985 the Town of Armadale was gazetted as the City of Armadale, meaning a new mayoral pendent had to be made. This meant Cr Blackburn was the only councillor to hold the position of the Mayor of the Town of Armadale and to wear this pendent.
