CERNAY, ANTOINE FAMILY HOME
B/W print. (a) Stone house, with slate roof, finials and chimney. There are verandahs on three sides with decorative verandah posts and several chairs. A flag pole is on the right side. (b) The house at a slightly different angle and showing developments. There are full length blinds at both ends of the verandah. At the left hand end there beds behind the blind. There is an elaborate fountain on the lawn to the left and behind it in the background is a summer house/gazebo? with large trees in the background. Small round shrubs are along the verandah edge and a Norfolk Island Pine on the right.
The family of Edmund Antoine lived at 196 Claremont Avenue (now 396 Stirling Highway). House known as Cernay. Postal Directories indicate that the property was purchased in 1918 from Michael J Durack. The property was previously called Lissadell.
