Historical information

The journal contains minutes of meetings of the Greenough Farmers' Club from 10 June 1887 to 22 June 1889, cash accounts from 1887 to 1902 and prize winners for the 1887 and 1888 Greenough Agricultural Shows.

The first agricultural show was held at Greenough in 1873 in a paddock near the Convict Bridge. Later shows were held in the grounds of the Hampton Hotel (including 1887 when this book is first used). In 1894 Thomas Clinch donated a block of land just south of the Greenough River to the Greenough Farmers’ Club and here the annual shows were held until 1940.
