In 1927 the Toodyay Road Board purchased the power station that had been installed beside the flour mill (today known as Connor's Mill) in 1919 and run by private companies.
The Road Board went on to manage the supply of electrical power to the community until 1955 when the State Electricity Commission took over this role after Toodyay was connected to the state power grid.
