JUG, SERVING - BENDIGO POTTERY
c. 1890 - 1950Chocolate brown earthenware jug, handle opposite the pouring spout. Top half of jug and handle in smooth glaze, bottom half has rough finish with row of small dots running around centre. Inside is smooth brown glaze.
Made by the Bendigo Pottery company in Victoria in the early to mid 1900s. Bendigo Pottery Company was founded in 1858 by George Duncan Gutherie and is the oldest ceramics business in Australia. The company was founded during the Bendigo Gold Rush and used wood fired kilns until 1989.
