1902Black and white photograph of a stone church believed to have been the first built for the convent of nuns of St. John of God, Subiaco. The church in the photograph is small and built from rough-hewn stone. There is a porch at the front, and a small building and water tank to the rear. A flower shaped window sits at the front above the porch, and there are several arched windows along the side of the building. A number of mature trees can be seen around the building.
Built in 1897 for the Sister's of St. John of God, on the current St. John of God Hospital site, this was the first St Joseph's Church in Subiaco. The building was demolished in 1954.

This photograph is significant as a remenant image of a long ago demolished church which once stood on the current St John of God Hospital site. This was the first of three St Joseph's churches in Subiaco, only one of which remains extant today. Importantly, this was the founding church for the Sister's of St John of God who came to Subiaco in the 1890s and established the St. John of God Hospital which still operates from this site.
