Statement of significance

This photograph is significant as an image of a demolished church which once stood on the St John of God Hospital site. This was the first of three St Joseph's churches in Subiaco, only one of which remains extant today. Importantly, this was the founding church for the Sister's of St John of God who came to Subiaco in the 1890s and established the St. John of God Hospital which still operates from this site.
