Katanning Winery
c. 1903A grey-scale picture of The Winery, which has a large number of wine barrels in the foreground. There is a man in the foreground with a paper list, a man standing on a cart and leaning on a barrel of wine, and a white horse is harnessed to the cart. In the middle ground is another cart harnessed to a black horse and three men rolling barrels. In the background is another cart loaded with barrels with two men sitting on the barrels and two brown horses are harnessed to the cart. On the side of the building are the words 'Govt Spirit Bond'
The winery was established by Mr F.H. Piesse in 1898. In the foreground from left to right are Mr Bungert - Wine Maker, Mr Tim Causer, Carl Joseph Bungert standing on the wagon. The vineyards contained over 10,000 vines and were sold to Penfolds SA. The Vats were put on railway trucks and transported. Mr F..H. Piesse died in 1912, he was aged 59.

On the back of the photograph handwritten in blue ink is "Present by Mrs Caussi Piesse's Wine Cellars" and below this "Mr Bungert - Wine-Makesi Mr Tim Caussi (Carl Joseph) Bungert (sitting on waggon) tiller) (Distiller) established by Mr. F.H. PIESSE in 1898 ime the vineyard contained over 10,000 vines. died in 1912 was decided to sell to Penfield's S.A. Vats were put on Railway tracks and transported"
