Pillbox Hat - Artillery Officer
The Artillery officers version of the pillbox cap has zigzag gold braid below a blue top with the crown with a central domed gold button and rim outined in red cord.
A pillbox hat is a small hat with a flat crown, straight, upright sides, and no brim. It is named after the small cylindrical or hexagonal cases that were used for storing or carrying a small number of pills. Pillbox caps were standard issue in the Victorian era for the British Army and colonial forces.
