INTERIOR ALBANY WOOLLEN MILLS, MILL FLOOR, WOOL CARDING MACHINERY, C1930
c. 1930Black and white photographic image from an early 120 film negative of machinery in the Albany Woollen Mills taken some time after the factory opened in the Feb 1925. Shown here is a row of large cast iron belt driven wool carding machinery in full flight. This is one in a series from P2003.357-364. Based on the selection of images in this series of photos it appears to be arranged to show the textile milling process at the Albany mill, from wool carding equipment, to spinning, to weaving. There is no indication of how wool cleaning and scouring or dyeing processes were achieved at the site.
