Overview

A black and white carte de visite type of postcard photo image. This photograph looks from the corner of Bridges (formerly Osnaburgh) Street and Brunswick Road towards the town centre and West Albany. At extreme left of the photograph can be seen the stone walls and the roof of the old Ship Inn, with houses of the original Great Southern Land & Railway Company behind it. This photograph is prior to the erection of the Albany Worsted & Woollen Mills, in the left background on the slopes of Mt Melville, in Grey Street West can be seen the two storied McKenzie house. Just to the left of the clock tower of the Post Office can be seen an ornate white wrought iron balcony on a two storey building, this is Dymes Chambers feloniously demolished in 1969 along with the Railway Guest House, C.E. Bolt & Co shipping office, George Wills & Co. shipping office and the nefarious Green Lizard night spot of the 1920's and 1930's.
