Statement of significance

Unused invitation to a Council-sponsored ball at the Kelmscott Hall to mark the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of the town of Kelmscott in 1830. The town was gazetted a little over a year after the founding of the Swan Colony town site. 1980 featured a series of celebratory events for the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Kelmscott, including the opening of the new Armadale Aquatic Centre. These events continued the trend of the previous year, 1979, during which many events had been held to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Swan River Colony.
