In 1987 the church was demolished to make way for the expansion of the Armadale Shopping City. Through hard work members of the community managed to collect all of the material and rebuild the church as part of Minnawarra Heritage Precinct.
Today the church though no longer consecrated is still a popular place for couples to get married. Tours of the church are also available on request from the staff and volunteers at History House Museum.
On 3 March 1987, an article appeared in the Comment News, reporting that both the first school building, and the first church, built in Armadale, were going to be demolished to make way for the redevelopment of the Armadale Shopping City. The church was demolished soon after the newspaper article appeared, its materials sold across Perth to salvage yards. It was also learnt that the Department of Education would be vacating the school on 25 September.
A meeting of concerned citizens were held and on 19 March, the Armadale School & Congregational Church Relocation Trust was formed.
