Historical information

Was worn by Meeghan Clay who was a member of the Armadale branch which was located in the Dale Region of the Girl Guides in the 1980s. Meeghan and her mother Fiona 'Fay' had a strong involvement with the local Girl Guides and attended many of the club and regional events. The patch would have been sewn onto part of Meeghan Girl Guide uniform. The patch was produced for a Girl Guide carnival held in the region

Statement of significance

A collection of patches used by Meeghan Clay when she was a member of the Armadale Girl Guides, located in the Dale Region (Armadale and Serpentine Jarrahdale) during the 1980s. Her mother Fiona 'Fay' Clay was also involved with the Girl Guides from 1983 to 2000.
The collection represents the role community organisations like the Girl Guides played in developing local citizenship skills of local Children. It also tells the story of the long history the Girl Guides have with the local region dating back to the years just after the end of World War One.
