The Memorial Plaque was issued to commemorate all British Empire service personnel who died as a result of war. The plaque bears the full name of the soldier, with no reference to rank or honour, which is to indicate that all who gave the ultimate sacrifice are equal. The plaque was also referred to as ‘Dead Man’s Penny or Widow’s Penny’. This Memorial Plaque was sent to the family of Pte. David SCOTT, who was killed in action at Gallipoli on the 28/04/1915.
