Japanese souvenir handkerchief from the 1993 Asian Baseball Championship

Overview

This Japanese souvenir handkerchief from the 1993 Asian Baseball Championship is folded into the shape of a Japanese kimono. The top and sleeves of the kimono are white with the Japanese flag printed on the left side. The bottom of the kimono is white with a black cross-stitched pattern and a black tied sash. On the back of the kimono is the word 'Komadai' printed in red. The manufacturer's label is attached to the front of the handkerchief.

Historical information

The 1993 Asian Baseball Championship was the 17th continental tournament held by the Baseball Federation of Asia. The tournament was held in Perth, Australia for the second time. Seven teams competed: North Korea, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, China, Japan, Philippines and Australia. The tournament was won by defending champions Japan; their eleventh Asian Championship and their third consecutive title. Australia finished 4th.
