Overview

A commemorative pennant for the champion team of the 75th Anniversary Claxton Shield competition. The black and white pennant is triangular and made of synthetic fabric. It has a black border and black printing on a white background. The Perth Heat logo is to the left of the words 'Back 2 Back', signifying that the Perth Heat team had also won the Claxton Shield Series in the previous year.

Historical information

The 2009 Diamond Anniversary Claxton Shield was the 75-year anniversary of the Claxton Shield and was held from 2 December 2008 to 8 February 2009. It was the Shield's Diamond anniversary. The Perth Heat won the tournament after defeating the New South Wales Patriots 3–2 in the third game of a best of three series, held at Baseball Park in Perth, Western Australia.

Contextual Information

Perth Heat won back-to-back Claxton Shields in 2007/08 and 2008/09, which was the 10th national championship win for a Western Australian team.

The pennant was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Bill Sinclair.
