This postcard was in an envelope titled "To Mertle Lee (Lucie Gray's mother) from Jess", it is handwritten and in blue ink.

On the front of the postcard below the picture on the left in black typed lettering is "On the Canning River, Canning, W.A." and on the right is "Published by The Austral Stores, Perth, W.A.".
On the back of the postcard printed in black lettering is "POST CARD" and underneath this line are two columns, on the left is "This space, as well as the back, may now be used for Communication." and above the right column is "The Address only to be written here".
Over the right hand column is a black circular stamp which reads "ALBANY WESTERN AUSTRALIA" and in the centre is "JY 11 19". In the top right hand corner is a red stamp which a swan in the centre, at the top of the stamp in red lettering is "WESTERN AUSTRALIA" and at the bottom is "POSTAGE ONE PENNY".
Handwritten in red ink in the left column is "It is quieter than up there, Give my love to boys. Jess. Dear Myrtle, Hope you are have a good time I suppose you are. Look after poor old Phil. see you Friday. Try & come up to meet me. I will be glad to get back".
Handwritten in red ink in the right column is "Miss Myrtle Lee C/O W.J Rogers. Clive St Katanning".
