MINDEROO, 83 BAY VIEW TERRACE
c. 1910Sepia print. Front elevation of a large weatherboard and iron house with wide verandah on two sides and a tall brick chimney. A garden bed borders the front verandah, there are scattered shrubs, a large tree on the right and a tall windmill behind the house. An elderly woman, is pictured sitting on the verandah holding a baby. Two boys and a girl complete the group.
Minderoo was the name of Bay View Terrace home and the North West station of David Forrest. The Bay View Terrace house was designed by George Temple Poole and built c1902. It was occupied by members of the Forrest family until 1942. By the 1950s the 12 room house on one & a quarter acres had been divided into two flats. The property, including a small brick dwelling on the same lot,was put up for auction in 1951. According to donor form, those grouped on the verandah include Mary Forrest, Mervyn Forrest and Donald Forrest.
