13th Asian Baseball Championship Series badges
Two 1985 13th Asian Baseball Championship Series badges, both made of gold-coloured metal. The design on both badges has a mid-blue background with a stylised white map of Australia edged with a gold-coloured border on the larger badge and a black border on the smaller badge. Five horizontal bands, each of a different colour (blue, yellow, green, red, black) and edged in gold, are embossed with the name of the competition, location and year date. The five bands converge to a place on the map indicating the location of the host city Perth. An image of a baseball overlays the coloured bands. The larger badge is enamelled with an acrylic coating. The reverse of the larger badge is embossed with the name and location of the stadium and the dates of the competition. The reverse of the smaller badge is stamped with the manufacturer's name. Both badges are secured with butterfly clutch pin backs. The larger badge has a 3.6cm diameter and the smaller badge 1.9cm.
The Asian Baseball Championship is the main championship tournament between national baseball teams in Asia, governed by the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA). It is held every other year in odd-numbered years and since 1983 it also functions as the qualification games for the Baseball at the Summer Olympics if the event year is exactly one year before the Olympics.
In 1985 the 13th Asian Baseball Championship Series was held in Perth, Western Australia between January 20 and February 1, at Parry Field Baseball Stadium. The series champions were Japan, with Chinese Taipei and South Korea tying for runner-up.
