WARDERS' QUARTERS OF THE TOODYAY CONVICT HIRING DEPOT

In the left lower corner of photo a man is seen standing near a bicycle which he is holding and looking towards the stone depot building with brick corners.
The end has an open doorway and down what is probably the front of the building, are 6 windows and 3 doorways at end of which is a higher roof line and beyond that under a lower roof is a verandah.
There are trees to the right and left of the building.

The building fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1931.

Details
The building was completed by 1853 and accommodated two warders, each having two rooms. A store room was located at one end.
The convict depot closed in 1872 and then the accommodation was used by the local Sergeant of Police.
During the 1870s this building had a women’s gaol added to the eastern end.
