Corporal James Brian Jones was accidentally injured and received 2nd degree burns to about 2/5 of his body after a fire caused by the premature ignition of petrol sprayed on an area of grass. His injuries led to his death on 25.6.1943. A Court of Inquiry held after his death from 13th to 17th July 1943 determined that the accident cause his death but that there was no negligence, misconduct or failure to observe any act of regulations on the part of Corporal Jones.
