Overview

Half-leather bound ledger with cloth covered boards showing visible signs of aging and wear.
The spine of the ledger is covered with a distressed tan coloured leather with raised horizontal bands and visible wear along the edges. There is a faded red leather spine label with partially legible gilt or gold-stamped lettering, "Prisoners' Register".
a) Ledger with pages 1 - 43 missing, pages 44 - 250 only present. No entries in these remaining pages.
b) Fragment of spine label, '...ister of Local Prisoners' now detached from the spine, but originally affixed.

Historical information

Label fragment found amongst material held by the Toodyay Historical Society and returned to the museum on 10 August 23.
The label fragment was accompanied by a note from a former museum curator (1990s - 2003) with an explanation that it belonged to a register originally catalogued as CH414 which was missing.
The register he is referring to is now believed to be this incomplete register, the first 43 pages having been re-bound and accessioned separately as Shire of Toodyay ledger 2002.32.
