WEST TOODYAY SCHOOL CHILDREN
c. 1902B & W copy of a group of school children.
13 boys, and 1 girl in white frock (Annie Hutchins).
In background is a corrugated iron wall.
Opened in 1902, the one roomed West Toodyay School was situated south of the West Toodyay Bridge. The school closed in 1920.
Children were then transported in a horse drawn wagon to the larger school located in the Toodyay township upstream. The wagon proved to be the first school bus in Western Australia.
Standing on the old school site are several trees which were planted by Kate Waters on Arbour Day 1912.
