GENERAL MEETINGS 1987

Three General Meetings were held in 1987.

Within the minute files after the Notice of Meeting for the Annual General Meeting was a letter to members from the President appealing for interest free loans from members to support the cost of planting the fairways with wintergreen couch.

The proceedings of the Annual General Meeting on 26th March included:

• Receipt of the financial accounts and associated questions and answers.
• The President’s report which referenced meetings with the City of Melville regarding the club’s lease renewal, the club’s activities as a Melville Chamber of Commerce member, the appointment of an apprentice greenkeeper, the rental agreement of the lodge to Mr F. Helfers
• The Course Director, who highlighted the excellent growth of the wintergreen couch on the fairways planted
• The minutes noted that three Notices of Motion concerning the Constitution would be advised to members for consideration at a Special General Meeting later this year.
• Various General Business ensued. In closing, the President outlined various plans for the course and clubhouse. He also read out a prepared statement regarding the discipline and behaviour required of members at the club.

The Special General Meeting on 18th August was called to address motions to amend the Constitution to:

• conform with the Equal Opportunities Act
• amend various clauses regarding the imposition of levies

The minutes include a complete copy of the Constitution highlighting the changes.

The motions were carried after minor modifications.

A brief session of General Business ensued.

The General Meeting on 24th November was called to:

• elect three Directors (President, Captain, and Treasurer)
• set the fees for the following year
