Overview

Very heavy, circular cast metal plaque featuring a representation of a Royal Australian Navy hat badge. It has an anchor and chain and the words 'Royal Australian Navy' surrounded by a rope border beneath a King's Crown .

Historical information

One of a set of three cast plaques representing the three military services - Army, Navy and Air Force.
They are believed to have been made in a Government workshop in Perth, Western Australia. The King's crown on the plaque indicates it was made prior to the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne in 1952.

The Australian Imperial Force plaque is also in the collection. A Royal Australian Air Force plaque is on display at the Albany RSL.
