Cast metal plaque - Australian imperial Force
c. 1940Very heavy, circular cast metal plaque featuring a representation of the Rising Sun hat badge with a King's Crown and the words 'Australian Imperial Force'.
One of a set of three cast plaques representing the three military services - Army, Navy and Air Force.
They are believed to have been made in a Government workshop in Perth, Western Australia. The King's crown on the rising sun badge indicates it was made prior to the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne in 1952.
The Royal Australian Navy plaque is also in the collection. A Royal Australian Air Force plaque is on display at the Albany RSL.
