Their description reads: 'A view of the grave of Nurse Edith Cavell in Brussels. Many wreaths decorate the grave, including one from King Albert of Belgium, which can be seen hanging on the fence to the right hand side of the grave. A Union flag also decorates the grave'.
There is a sign at the front which is written in French, and is dated December 1918.
The death of British nurse, Edith Cavell, by German firing squad on 12 October 1915 was an event relatively early in the course of the Great War which firmed the resolution of the allied nations against Germany.

"The Schaerbeek Committee
of the Belgian Red Cross
Miss Edith Cavell, Nurse
Victim of her patriotic devotion.
December 1918."
