Overview

A brown rectangular glass bottle with a black plastic screw on lid. One side of the bottle has a yellow label with black text, the opposite side has a white label with blue text. The black text tells you how to use the tablets and the blue text, where to purchase them and directions for use.
Text on yellow label [Palintest / CALCIUM / HARDNESS / Add one tablet to sample in / stoppered container. Shake / to disintegrate tablet. Re- / peat until pink colour / changes to violet. / Calcium Hardness / (as mg/l CaCo3) / For 50 ml sample [(No. of Tablets x 40)-20] / For 100ml sample / [(No. of Tablets x 20)-10]]

Historical information

The item was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations were started in 2017. The Centre was opened in December 1980.
The equipment would have been used as early as 1980 and possibly as late as 2017. Most likely used in 1990s-early to c2005. It was used as part of the maintenance of the water quality of the pools at the Aquatic Centre. Maintaining a high standard of water quality at the Aquatic Centre was a priority to ensure patrons could swim in a safe environment.

MEDIUM
This collection of items was used at the Armadale Aquatic Centre. The Centre was opened in December 1980 and was closed in 2017 to make way for the new Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre which was opened in 2019. These items were collected as they represent the important role played in the social life of the local community and what was involved for a local government in running a public pool.
